Anne van Borselen was born on June 11, 1937 Surabaya, Indonesia
Anne van Borselen was born on June 11, 1937 in Surabaya, Indonesia. She came from a family of painters; on her mother’s side, Imeria Sunassa, the famous Indonesian artist, and on her father’s side great great grandfather, J.W. van Borselen (1825-1892), landscape painter of King William III from The Netherlands. Anne is a ball of energy. She constantly creates on inspiration and her work conjures the fresh immediacy. Whilst being impulsive, she also has a high level of execution and a confident aesthetic.
Her first exhibition was in Spain, on the island of Ibiza, where she had lived and painted for 5 years.
Anne paints directly on canvas, rice paper, panels, in mixed techniques; Acrylic, gouache, oil or ink in classic or abstract style. She also makes sculptures in bronze, stone and fibre. When in Jenggala, Anne paints on ceramics and tableware.
